O Observatório
O Observatório de Direitos Humanos (ODIHH) é um grupo de pesquisa interdisciplinar e interinstitucional que tem como proposta se consolidar como um centro de pesquisa em direitos humanos e empresas, com foco nos objetivos e metas de desenvolvimento sustentável da ONU. Neste sentido convergem quatro linhas de pesquisa:
1) Diretos humanos e empresas. Nesta linha, a pesquisa agrega o debate teórico acerca da responsabilidade das corporações transnacionais com os direitos humanos, bem como as iniciativas desenvolvidas pelos organismos internacionais, buscando assim novas ferramentas para comprometer as corporações com os direitos humanos sociais.
2) Metodologias de pesquisa em Direitos Humanos. Nesta pesquisa pretende-se analisar a relação entre os padrões e normas de direitos humanos já estabelecidas e as que estão ainda em desenvolvimento, com as diversas realidades e demandas de direitos humanos, em seus diversos contextos e dimensões, em especial o contexto da economia de mercado global e as atividades das corporações transnacionais.
3) Direitos humanos e segurança alimentar. Nesta linha, a pesquisa abrange três vieses: a) o monitoramento da segurança alimentar no Brasil, com foco no mercado das indústrias químicas e de biotecnologia; b) sociologia das megafusões no campo agro-bioquímico-alimentar global; c) Indicadores de direitos humanos e standards voltados para o mercado econômico.
4) Direitos Humanos, paz e desenvolvimento sustentável. Neste eixo, a pesquisa agrega a pesquisa sobre agência corporativa para a paz, tomando a paz e justiça global como valores fundamentais na busca do desenvolvimento sustentável e o papel das empresas globais na realização destes valores.
O ODIHH integra a Rede de pesquisa em Direitos Humanos, Inseguranças, Paz, Atores Globais e Sustentabilidade (REDHIPAS) juntamente com o Laboratório de pesquisa em Segurança Internacional, Paz e Desenvolvimento (LABSEPAD), liderado pela Profª. Lara Denise Góes da Costa (PPGSID/ESG) e com o Nucleo Interdiscioplinar de Dinâmicas Contemporâneas (NICOM), liderado pela profªa Leticia Helena Medeiros Veloso - PPSIG/UFF).
The Human Rights Observatory (ODIHH) is an interdisciplinary and interinstitutional research group that aims to consolidate itself as a research center in human rights and business, focusing on the UN's sustainable development objectives and goals. In this sense, four lines of research converge:
1) Business and Human rights that brings together the theoretical debate about the responsibility of transnational corporations with human rights, as well as the regulatory debate seeking new tools to commit corporations to human rights.
2) Research methodologies in Human Rights that aims to analyze the relationship between already established human rights standards and norms and those that are still under development, with the different realities and demands of human rights, in their different contexts and dimensions, especially the context of the economy of global market and the activities of transnational corporations.
3) Human rights and food security. In this line, the research covers three aspects: a) monitoring food safety in Brazil, focusing on the chemical and biotechnology industry market; b) sociology of mega-mergers in the global agro-biochemical-food field; c) Human rights indicators and standards aimed at the economic market.
4) Human rights, peace and sustainable development. In this axis, the research adds research on corporate agency for peace, taking peace and global justice as fundamental values in the search for sustainable development and the role of global companies in realizing these values.
ODIHH is part of the Research Network on Human Rights, Insecurity, Peace, Global Actors and Sustainability (REDHIPAS) together with the Research Laboratory on International Security, Peace and Development (LABSEPAD), led by Prof. Lara Denise Góes da Costa (PPGSID/ESG) and with the Interdisciplinary Nucleus of Contemporary Dynamics (NICOM), led by professor Leticia Helena Medeiros Veloso - PPSIG/UFF).
